Cinematography

Cinematography is the art of camera work and photography within film. Cinematic style means camera work and music that is commonly found within particular genres. As an audience we do not really take any notice of the cinematography however without these cinematic conventions a genre would be difficult to recognise.

Types of camera shots:

  • Long shot
  • Medium shot
  • Close up
  • Extreme close up
  • Point of view
  • Low angle
  • High angle

Low Angle

Low angle shots are used to make characters look powerful and in control

High Angle

High angle shots are used to make characters look weak and powerless.
