The shots I included during the short sequence:
- Long shot
- Tracking shot
- High-angled shot
- Close up
- Point of view
- Medium shot
- Crane shot
The shots, which were not included during the sequence
- Low-angled
- Rolling shot
- Over the shoulder
- Extreme close up
We decided not to use an extreme close up because there was
nothing within the sequence, which needed to be exaggerated, as the villain
didn’t showup until the ending of the sequence and even that was for a very
brief moment and therefore we couldn’t use a close up to show the audience what
the villain looked like. The other shots we have not incorporated into the
sequence, simply to the fact that they would not work with the horror/thriller
theme.
However, we decided to use the shots listed above because
they worked very effectively in how short sequence. We decided to use a high
angle long shot, because it highlighted that the victim was helpless and weak
from the start and also as the sequence goes on we go on to highlight that the
victim is still helpless and unaware of what is happening by using a high angle
crane shot. The close up I used at the ever end of the sequence to show the
struggle the victim is in and how she fails to overcome the stalker and is
taken into the dark room. I use the tracking shot where the victim is being
watched from the window by the stalker as it portrays that the girl is being
watched. I think my choice of camera angles and shots were fairly successful as I was able to portray the danger the girl was in with a variety of different shots. Personally, I think all my choices were successful at different levels throughout the short sequence, some better then others.
